Hi to AFRICAphonie and its founder(s).
I just wish to congratulate you for bringing hope to Cameroonian movies of English expression.
In fact, the movie "Nkuma" which was recently produced did not only go a long way to mercilessly fight Female Genital Mutilation common in some parts of the South West and Northern Provinces of Cameroo but also shows how creative, educative and entertaining Africans could be. With a literary backgroung i would like to say the characcters, setting, plot the style(language in particular) were quite apt to the piece. The messeage went through so to speak and the movie is part of the thoughts to African problems.

Kudos to the Producer/Director Mwalimu George Ngwane, the Script writer, Patience Temeching and to all the other actors right up to the town crier.
But just like Oliver Twist we need more of such thrilling movies.

God Bless you all...

I have read quite little about the interesting articles written by some of the proponents of Aficaphonie. I have equally met Mr. George Ngwane once but very briefly and this was when he was senior DM in BGS in Molyko. Soon he was appointed as delegate and to me he became a 'bigman' and consequently lost contact with him. May I know if Africaphonie is a pressure group, a cultural movement or an NGO or any civil society organisation. Thank you.

Barry

When Goerge was appointed to the position of delegate of culture for the South west Cameroon,I have on good authority that he accepted the position purely out of love for his country. The appointment was a rare out- of- policy appointment by a regime that had always relied on stooges, sycophants and traitors for survival.George is not , could never become any of the above. The appointment sent mixed signals to the world because those who know George know him as a Cameroonian who is above the fray, a committed writer, a progressive and a gadfly. He is a geniune African intellectual.
A friend of mine, The Rt Hon Mrisho Jakaya Kikwete(MP) Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation of the United Republic of Tanzania upon reading some publications of Africaphonie remarked to me that he saw in the likes of George Ngwane a bright future for Africa.
After the launching of the African Youth Parliament in Impala Hotel Arusha Tanzania presided over by the distinguished African statesman I spoke about Africaphonie and George, to Hon Kikwete. He demanded to know more about him and Africaphonie. And the evidence was presented to him.He was very moved and impressed indeed. He was grateful that with the writers like George, he was confident that the dream Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere, Osageyfo Kwame Nkrumah and others could be realised in our life time. How a prophet can never be known in his home!
George, the current conduct of your persecutors give us more time to continue with the realisation of our pan Afican vision that this purported appointment was fast distracting you from. The world needs you, Africa needs you.
