Staff and pupils of Government Primary School Ndongo-Wokoko in Buea sub division woke up to a pleasant surprise on Tuesday 13th October 2020 when a delegation of the civil society called AFRICAphonie came with anti-COVID 19 and didactic materials to their school campus.
Led by its Executive Director, Mwalimu George Ngwane, AFRICAphonie extended its benevolent consignment of boxes of chalk, picture charts, dusters, packets of pens, reams of paper, bars of soap, liquid soap and hand washing buckets to the Headmistress of the school Madam Manga.
Ngwane encouraged the young pupils and committed staff to pursue their academic quest with ambition and discipline despite the challenging socio-political crisis compounded by the COVID 19 pandemic. He said AFRICAphonie’s modest gesture to the school was in line with its panAfrican maxim that the world was not given to us by our parents but it was loaned to us by our children.
In her response the Headmistress Madam Manga congratulated the delegation for such a heartwarming gesture coming at the beginning of the school academic year with more parents jostling to register their children in the school. She promised that the school shall judiciously put to use the donated items for the benefit of the staff and pupils.
It must be recalled that this donation by AFRICAphonie comes few years after the organization instituted an end of academic year party and book donation bonanza to this same Primary School.
